Life is for living

Remember what I said last time about life getting in the way of living? I’ve been giving it lots of thought. Well, it’s year end, the time for heaps of introspection. Introspection I say, not regrets. We should actually everyday check our goals, our visions and make sure we’re still on course and not wait for the end of the year.

Start now, download a vision board app, or if you are old school, get a notebook. Write down the things you want to achieve. Where do you intend to go and how do you plan on getting there. Every morning, read your vision. Listen to other people’s stories. I especially love Steve Harvey’s testimony. If he can do it, so can we. Right? But, it’s not as easy as that. Life is always happening. It’s easy to shelf that dream or that holiday for work. We chase after money and tangible assets. Before we realise it, life has passed us by. So, what’s the way forward?

Balance. Don’t shelve your dreams. Don’t procrastinate. Find a balance. Look at this very blog Afrique Beat, life got in the way. It was shelved for quite some time. The solution is, live life, hustle hard, but live your life. What’s your passion? What makes you feel alive? Make time for those things. If you cut down on the time you spend on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and WhatsApp, you will have plenty free time to play soccer, write that book, draw, paint, read and do lots more! How are you spending your time? Who are you spending your time with? How about cutting down on the zzzz… Pastor Chris Oyakhilome put it so well, “Maybe you sleep too much, maybe you rest too much. You’re always talking about designer clothes, designer this, where are your own designs?”

They say the cemetery is the richest place on earth. It’s full of dreams never realised. Money-making ideas never explored. Don’t let life get in the way of living. Go on that trip you have always wanted to embark on. Call up that old friend and catch up. Many times we go to our 7-5 job, come back home and be a couch potato till bed time. Go to sleep, wake up in the morning, go to work. Come back home, couch, bed, work…. Am I speaking to you right now? Time and tide wait for no man! The Bible says chance happens to everyone. What makes others more successful, live a more fulfilling life than others. Check your time. Check your habits. Everyone has the same minutes in a day. How are you spending yours?

Change your habits. Change your mindset. Change your lifestyle…. Decide how you want to live your life. Don’t let life control you. Take charge of your life. Stay focused on your goals. Be conscious of how your life is going. Don’t wake up one day with regrets wondering where all the years went to…

As for me, I’m switching off all gadgets today, I’m taking my drawing pad… Got on some classical music and do life. It’s been too long, way too long! Catch you on the rebound… If you know, you know 🤓
