“My Hiding Days Are Over,” says Prince Okwu, The Ambassador

Na You Ooh

“This album is a testimony of God’s grace! I waited patiently for Martin PK for 6yrs, since 2013 and God made it happen today I have done a powerful collaboration with him. That’s why I said, ‘Daddy Na You Oooh’. This is God’s time, by His grace.” Said Nigerian Gospel multi-award winning artist, Prince Nda ‘The Ambassador’ Okwu.

Prince has just released the long awaited track, ‘Na You Oooh’, from his upcoming album, ‘My Hiding Days Are Over’. The track features internationally acclaimed South African Gospel artist, Martin PK. It  was love at first ‘hearing’ for me. I have not stopped listening to this track, I am very sure I’ll be listening to it for many many months in the future. The track itself is a beautifully arranged track. The Nigerian flavour is quite strong in this little, but powerful ditty. The instruments are well arranged, it’s easily imprinted on the mind with its catchy lyrics. There’s a bit of Xhosa lyrics in the track, which brings in a welcome South African seasoning.

‘My Hiding Days Are Over’ is Prince’s 4th album which is expected to be released next month. His first album was released in June 2010, a six track album titled, ‘He Has Given Us Victory’. In April 2013, he released, ‘It’s My Set Time,’. The 3rd album, ‘There Is God,’ was released in May 2015. It is another six track album that features Maumela Mahuwa (Susan from South African soapie, Muvhango) on the track, He Will Honour Me. In August 2017, Okwu released a single-track titled, ‘Lion Of Judah’.

“The testimony has not ended! In 2012 a pastor called me to come and play drums for him because he was inviting Keke to his church, and the pastor promised to connect me to him, but at the end of the service he couldn’t keep to his promise, and I said to myself, ‘one day I will collaborate with Keke.’ So after 7yrs God did it on my upcoming album, ‘My Hiding Days Are Over’. I collaborated with him on two tracks, Chimamanda (My God will not fail me) and God Don Bless Me. It’s all in God’s time, His time is the best. You can now see and believe that indeed, My Hiding Days Are Over.”

Who is Prince Nda Okwu? ‘I am a male gospel music artist in my late 30s, born in Nigeria and educated there. I started my music career at a very tender age of 8 in Sunday school at church. Since then, my music desire has been top priority. Having been brought up in a Christian family, gospel music became the only option, for the love of Christ had been ignited at an early age. Additionally, l also grew up playing drums and trumpet in church and later began to lead songs which has since made it easier for me to get used to the stage and somehow fired up the passion for music,” said Prince.

Prince carries many awards under his belt. “On the 13th of July 2014 l was honoured with an award for the best Artistic Creativity of the year at the African Leadership Prestige Awards hosted by Leaders Voice Production in Johannesburg, South Africa.” He goes on to mention, “In 2016 I also got an award for best male gospel artist hosted by PM Congolese Community. On 6 June 2018 I was honoured with an award by Leaders Voice Production as the top achiever  in humanitarian works. In 2019 they also honoured me with the artist of the year award. The African Prestige Awards also awarded me for excellence this year (2019).”

We definitely will be hearing more from this artist as he declares that, ‘My hiding days are over.”
