5 Valentine’s Day ideas that won’t leave you broke

Valentine’s Day is like a second New Year, but for lovers 😅. It’s the perfect time for the married to rekindle the fire in their marriage. It would be great though if this special day was wery month! With the skyrocketing divorce rates, this might just be the intervention we need for marriages 😁. Many men complain about the expenses associated with this lovers’ day. It’s really not about spending money, but just showing love. If there is no money, it’s okay. There are other ways of celebrating Valentine’s Day that won’t leave you broke.

  1. Write a letter
That’s right! Write a letter to your spouse. Back in the day, before digitalization took over, we wrote love letters to each other. I remember clearly an envelope written outside, ‘kiss b4 u open’ 🤣🤣🤣 but, it was the most wonderful feeling receiving a love letter from the one you love. Why not surprise your love with a letter this Valentine’s Day? Signed off, ‘Your Valentine’ ❤️
  2. Handmade card
It’s really not about doing expensive stuff. It’s the thought that counts hey. You can either buy a good old hardcopy Valentine’s Day card, or make one yourself. I did this a couple of years back and well the whole family ended up making Valentine’s Day cards.
  3. Valentine’s Day Breakfast Special
How about breakfast at Tiffany’s? No, I’m just kidding! Make a simple breakfast for your spouse in bed… It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, but it must come from the heart.
  4. Picnic for two
Again, you don’t have to do expensive stuff. Just have cold drink, or if you drink wine, do that. A few snacks and a blanket and go to the garden or park. I remember one year, we put a blanket on the floor in the bedroom and we lit some candles and had supper. It was a normal supper, the candles were already in the house. There were no extra costs involved, just extra effort.
  5. Movie marathon
If you are lucky to have DSTV premium, then good for you. Get some popcorn and cuddle up on the couch. If you have Netflix, YouTube… Whatever you have, make use of it. Even if it’s just a normal DVD player, or laptop… It’s awesome that this year, Valentine’s Day will be on a Friday.

There are many things that you can do with your lover for Valentine’s Day that won’t leave you broke. As for me, I’ll probably be at home blogging, but my heart will be with a loved one at an art gallery indulging in art😁….
