The End – a poem by Zizwe the Poet

On day my pen will stop bleeding,
My hand will stop scribbling,
The paper will be dry,
A lot of people will cry,
And I will be no more,
Things will never be like before,
Four corners of the soil will be ready to swallow my body,
My soul will be from somebody to no body,
It will be taking it destination,
Leaving this harsh nation,
A lot will be happening,
But some will be not believing,
Believing that I’m leaving,
And forever this time.

Slowly and surely my death is coming,
And I’m already owning the feeling,
Just like the rain falling from the sky to the ground
My body too will be grounded forever under the ground,
Some will feel like they’re dreaming,
Those who loved me will be screaming,
You’ll miss me for really this time,
You’ll wish that you kissed me while I was alive,
But it’ll be too late for you to feel my lips
Cause they’ll be cold and ready to be kissed by the ants.

One day is for me,
Like the nature goes, it shall be,
My veins will be full of frozen blood,
I will be laying like a dud,
Dude I’m not lying,
The day is coming,
You will wish you said it all
Before I become ill,
You will wish you kept your promises like you promised me,
You will espay how much you loved me,
You will feel like you’re the victim in your dream,
Stop dreaming ,this is not just a poem,
But the event of my last day,
On that last day, don’t forget to pray.

The day is coming,
I will be announced “dead”
But I will be up in there sky
With a pen and a paper in my hands,
And write my poem title “the end”,
I will be adding all the people says about the dead me,
I will be listing to the lies of the pastor,
I will be looking at my funeral poster,
I know you will post about me,
A picture of me will be flooding the status of my family members WhatsApp,
It’s unfortunately that some will have to screenshot someone post to have my picture,
So I guess you see the picture that I’m trying to paint,
Before you get lost within the lines
Remember that it will the end of me.
